There is arguably no travel watch more iconic than the Rolex GMT-Master II. With a legacy that spans from the 1950s and a design that has come to influence countless watches in the GMT category for sports watches, the modern design carries the legacy of a pioneer, and today rests as one of the most in-demand watches of our time.

This model, the ref. 116710, is the last generation of the GMT-Master II before the launch of the contemporary steel reference in 2018, with the 126710. It debuted in 2007, replacing the 16710, and notably included an all-black variation and the famed blue and back “Batman.” At its launch, the reference was well-regarded for both its technical and aesthetic updates, adding to the famed design a Triplock crown, anti-reflective Cyclops lens, colored 24-hour hand, maxi dial, and ceramic bezel as well as a new bracelet and movement. In addition, the brand added a Rolex engraving on the inner rehaut, a now-standard feature for all of the Swiss maker’s watches.

Powering the 116710 is the Rolex caliber 3186, a chronometer automatic movement capable of a 50-hour power reserve. While technically the last generation when compared to the Rolex caliber 3285 launched in 2018 and its 70 hours of the reserve, the 3186 is nonetheless at its core an incredibly capable movement that provides the modern GMT-Master II with its famed ease of use making it ready and equipped for any journey, foreign or domestic.
