Description
In August of 2020, Rolex made simultaneously its biggest and most unnoticeable changes to the Sub by introducing the Rolex Submariner Date Starbucks ref. 126610 – a 41mm watch with an improved case profile, slimmer lugs, slightly different bracelet construction, and a new in-house movement. So a watch that had come to be defined by its 40mm sizing was now no longer 40mm in diameter. The controversial upsizing on paper has been met with general praise with most enthusiasts finding it to wear smaller than the previous Sub due to that slight tweaking of profile, lug, and bracelet dimensions.
For the updates, at its core the 126610 is still a classic Submariner, complete with its iconic aesthetics and supreme reliability. On the dial, a highly-legible dial produced in Rolex’s distinct diver configuration is showcased, complete with a three o’clock Cyclops-magnified date window, hour markers and hands are filled with blue Chromalight lume material, and a dark dial contrasting to it all.
Inside, the 126610 features the Rolex calibre 3235, an automatic movement with a 70-hour power reserve, a relatively new and incredibly reliable, chronometer-grade movement. The caliber is protected via a solid case back that helps ensure a water resistance to 300 meters (1,000 feet), with the entire watch secured to the wrist via a 904L steel Oyster bracelet with an Oysterlock safety clasp and Glidelock extension system.
